1) What’s in a Name?
This pooch has an ear-piercing howl. As a matter of fact, the French word, bee gueule, means “wide throat.” This is commonly translated to “Loudmouth”. If you ever heard this breed howl, you can agree that this is a good name.
The howl of a dog is one thing. The howl of the puppy is another. The funny thing about them is once they start it’s hard for them to stop.
Look at this funny expression. I don’t think this pup cares. I know I shouldn’t laugh at pooch destruction, but I think it’s funny. Especially, since I don’t have to clean it up.
I love it so much, I have a several post on Dogs of Destruction! You can find them in the Funny Dogs section!

2) Small Fact
In the 1600’s there was a version of this breed that was only 9 inches at the shoulder. Hunters would often carry these hunting dogs around in their pocket or saddlebag. Because of this, they were named Pocket Beagles. After a while they fell out of favor with hunters and were replaced with larger dogs. Eventually this version of the breed died off.

Look at those puppy eyes! Look at those puppy nails!
There is nothing sour about this sweet pup!
This Beagle puppy is called a Lemon Beagle. These puppies are born almost pure white with lemon and tan patches. Generally, once their adult coat comes in the shades tend to darken.
3) US Employees
This dogs are also known for their skills in tracking scents. For this reason, the US Government has an actual Beag Brigade to sniff bags at airports. Their mission is not the normal drug finds. They are trained to find food from other countries. A foreign bacteria or bug could destroy entire US crops. I wonder if they get PTO or a matching 401K.
It looks like Memphis is getting use to riding shotgun.
I see this expression every night. Right after I tell my daughter that dessert is not a meal.

4) By the Nose
It has been reported that this breed has 220 million scent-receptors. While, people have about 5 million. They can also recognize up to 50 different scents.

I bet you that bell is going off all the time. These dogs have high energy!
I have feeling that this expression will be used a lot.
5) Common Trait
Can you imagine the sounds coming out of here?
All Beags have a white hair on the tip of their tails. Even if it’s a few strands. If there is no white hair, then the pooch isn’t a pure breed.
Also, their coat will always be at least two colors. There can never be a solid color for these family dogs.
Look at those puppy eyes on this baby Beagle!
6) There is Always a Reason
Don’t ask me how they did it, but the white tipped tail is by design. When they hunt rabbit in the brush, their tail sticks up. This allows the hunters to track where the dogs are.
Do you think if this puppy ran faster, he’d fly?

This breed will chew on everything and anything when they get bored.

Before LBJ became President, he had ones of these pooches. The name of his dog was Beagle. In the Spring of 1963, this dog fathered a litter of pups.
Johnson received a boy and a girl from that litter. He named the two new dogs, Him and Her. Obviously, President Johnson was not great at choosing pet names. If you share his talent for naming dogs. Then, I recommend that you use Barking Laugh’s Dog Naming Section as soon as possible.
During his time at the White House, both pooches accidentally died. After their demise, Johnson received another one as a gift, by FBI Director J. Edgar Hoover. Not breaking habit, he named the new pooch, Edgar.
If you want to know more about the pets of the White House, there was a book written in 1975. The book is, Dog Days at the White House The Outrageous Memoirs of the Presidential Kennel Keeper. It is based on the journal of the White House kennel keeper..
10) Funny Pooches
These canines are packed with character. Look at this puppy and try not to smile. Of course, the iconic Snoopy was a Beag. But to be honest I really didn’t like Snoopy.
